Expand Your Library: A Review of Miami-Dade Public Library's Non-Resident Card Program
Welcome to a new Substack Series, perfect for reading on a budget and supporting local communities.
As we know, libraries are under attack due to budget cuts and book bans. Libraries are a safe haven for all of us, providing services such as printing, classes, reading times, access to books to borrow, free access to news, etc.
A few years ago, I decided to stop buying new books and invest in various non-resident library cards. Shifting my investment from purchasing new books (audio and e-books) has allowed me to try out new authors and listen voraciously without paying for Audible credits. I also love that I can support a community.
Each week, I will highlight a library that offers a non-resident library card for a fee. Based on your needs, budget, etc., I will let you know if it’s worth it.
